In-Space Servicing and Manufacturing Research Center (ISMRC)

Vision and Purpose

To become a global hub for space research and innovation by securing key strategic technologies in space services and manufacturing, revitalizing the industrial ecosystem, and leading joint international research

Key Missions

  • Develop core technologies for the space service and manufacturing industry, including deployable and self-assembling small unmanned space stations (KUSS), space robotics (KUSSbot), and systems for space cargo transport and recovery, and ensure technical reliability through both ground and in-orbit tests
  • Enhance the competitiveness of Korea’s space industry by forming and operating a consortium of companies, academia, research institutes, and government agencies to share test facilities, establish a joint space component supply chain, and promote standardization
  • Formulate joint space service/manufacturing projects and build an international cooperation framework based on strategic partnerships with leading global institutions
